READ: John 12
MY VERSE: John 12:46 – “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
MY REFLECTION: It’s 4:52 am in Seoul and this is about as late as I have been able to sleep since being here. From my hotel window I can see a huge section of this city of more than 10 million people. And in the darkness there are scores of glowing red crosses that you see across the landscape. You can’t miss the light in the darkness. I was told that each red cross is above one of the ten thousand protestant churches in this city. If the church is to be the light of Jesus to a dark world; collectively this creates a powerful symbol.
Symbols aside, I know when I allow Jesus to look around inside me His light exposes stuff that I don’t want to see or want to admit. it will sound overly simple, but I’m impressed with how Jesus exposes stuff in my life. He exposes my sin and crap in a way that is not shaming, but encouraging and hopeful. That is good and I am grateful for it.
MY PRAYER: Father God, thank you for not letting me wander around in darkness, but providing light that gives direction to my life. And thank you for bringing your light inside my life and helping me see the stuff that wants to destroy your dream for my life. I welcome your light into my life today and I ask that your light give direction for the day. With love and loyalty, Dave.
