We got back from our family vacation last week which included a trip to Minneapolis for a college visit, several relaxing days in Door County, Wisconsin and then a couple fun days at a water park in Wisconsin Dells. The pic to your left is one of the kids at a local pizza place called, The Moose Jaw. (You’d have to be there.) While it was nothing exotic it was a great family time and a good get away for all of us.
I have always thought vacations are important, but thanks to an article sent to me by Brian Moll that appeared in the New York Times titled, Taking A Break From The Lord’s Work it is even more important than I realized. In this article they make a case for extended time off quoting research that says “members of the clergy now suffer from obesity, hypertension and depression at rates higher than most Americans.” Take a look at the article and if you are working in a church – make sure you get a break before this summer is over. And if you are not working in a church, I’m sure that a break would do you good too!
