Water_2_1So why am I posting this at 1:50 am?  Thank you for asking.  About three hours ago I was ready to go to bed.  I decided to go downstairs to get some clean clothes for the morning before hitting the sack.  And when I got to the bottom of the steps I found an inch of standing water in my finished basement!  UGH!  I absolutely hate this kind of stuff.  Why?  First, it will cost money.  Second, it will take up a ton of time.  Third, it will demand that I do stuff that I don’t know how to do (like figure out why my back-up sump pump isn’t working!?)

But luckily for me I’m a part of a terrific church and I’m going to get this figured out.  Thank you to the following people already:

  • Jon Ferguson, who was the first person I called at 11:00 pm and came over to see what he could do.
  • Lee Messersmith who took my call at 12:00 am (despite having a new baby).  Jon and I were pretty sure that Lee was the one guy who would know what to do.  We didn’t and he did.
  • Steve Jackson of Ceren Plumbing.  I called their business line and the President of the company answers.  Gotta like that kind of service.  He is driving over to my house right now…and it’s 1:59 am.  He even said, “it’s not like I was doing anything”.
  • Sue and Amy were both troopers and didn’t complain but started helping right away.

Well, it’s 2:00 am and it looks like I’ll be up all night.  Oh, one more thing – luckily, Josh and Caleb brought up my old baseball cards from the basement just yesterday!  So, the most precious of things were spared!  🙂  I’ll let you know how the saga ends…

UPDATE:  Steve and Diane Jackson came over and replaced my sump pump in the middle of the night – they are awesome!  Sue and I stayed up after that and got the rid of the standing water. Now I’m waiting on Service Pros to get here and rip out our carpet. (Blogging about this keeps me from screaming!  Thank you for reading.)
