More good news: We had a phenomenal Saturday night at the Yellow Box in Naperville where I was speaking. I haven’t heard how everything went at the other CCC locations with a Saturday night service(Romeoville and Montgomery), but at the Yellow Box it was great! There was a huge crowd and the arts team was really on their game. For the last several months we have been feeling the tension between reproducing and consistent quality. If you are a consistent reader of this blog or on the CCC staff you have heard me go on and on about how we have to live in the tension of reproducing and consistent quality. I keep preaching we can not give in to one or the other but we must achieve the “genius of the and”. A big part of the answer is artist development, but I think we have stumbled onto another part of the answer – more practice! Simple, but true. The bands at both Naperville locations went back to Friday night and Saturday practices during IGNITE and you could tell! They played with such confidence and passion that it made a huge difference in the worship vibe. Thanks to our artists for putting in the extra effort. I think they are talking about how to make the adjust permanent in the future. I would love to see it.
Even more good news: I try not to be a numbers guy…but I am a numbers guy and it looks like with the size of the crowds we had last week at CCC and even bigger tonight that we will shatter the record attendance at CCC by around a thousand people. Like I tell CCC leaders (and myself) it’s not about the numbers, it’s about helping people find their way back to God!
Thanks: I got a bunch of great suggestions for subtitles to our book on The BIG IDEA. I sent the people at Zondervan an e-mail with a link to your comments and asked them to take a look. But thanks for the input…good stuff!
