8_2 READ:  John 8

MY VERSE:  John 8:10-11“Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’  ‘No one, sir,’ she said. ‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.'”

MY REFLECTION:  Jesus catches her in the act.  If it wasn’t humiliating enough for her to be confronted with her sin, here she is caught in bed with the guy with whom she is having an affair.  I imagine her being dragged into the center of town, totally disheveled and half-dressed while being encircled by a group of pharisees who prided themselves in their own good-ness (or how good they are at not getting caught!).  And what does Jesus do?  He doesn’t point the finger at her; he points the finger at the hypocrisy of the pharisees.  When they realize they are just as guilty, only better at not getting caught – they walk away.  Then Jesus says, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?'”  She realizes that it is now just her and Jesus.  And then Jesus says those words that he says to all of us, “Then neither do I condemn you..Go now and leave your life of sin.”

In my prayers lately I find myself saying, “God, thank you for blessing me way beyond my obedience”.  That is new for me.  I think there is a growing awareness in me that what is happening in my life, the church and our network is all a grace.  It is all a gift from God who refuses to condemn me for my sin that is seen and sin that is unseen.  And because of His grace and love it motivates me to “go now and leave your life of sin.”

MY PRAYER:  Father God, you are so good and so smart.  So good, in that you continue to extend grace over and over and over and over again.  Wow.  And so smart, because that grace is extremely motivating.  Your grace inspires me to be the kind person that You dreamed I could be.  Thank you.  I ask that through your Spirit you help me to be more aware of your grace and let that grace drive and motivate my every decision, every day.  With love and loyalty, Dave
